Materiality is the absolute protagonist of Uncini’s works. Concrete, iron and various materials are celebrated under the guise of essential structural elements, ranging from massive architectural presences to more modest works on boards.

‘Spazi di Ferro nr. 120’ makes no exception. The composition is made of thin layers of concrete encapsulated in a geometric iron frame. Concrete is the element which has characterised the entirety of Uncini’s artistic enquiry, and whose potentialities have been analysed by the artist since the beginning of his career.

By transforming an ordinary reality belonging to the industrial dimension into an artistic object, Uncini anticipates some of the intuitions of the Arte Povera, concerning the artistic potentialities of common materials. At the same time, by employing simple and geometric shapes, he also paves the way to the principles of Minimalist Art.
